I sell my carvings at shows and competitions as well as in shops local to me. A large part of my work is through commissions received directly from customers. Commissions are varied and range from transforming a garden tree stump into a beautiful sculpture, crafting a wood carving of a much-loved pet or creating an animal, bird or creature that a customer chooses to enhance their home.
Every piece of wood speaks to me about what it wants to become; the movement, grain, shape, colour and knots, every idiosyncrasy of a piece of wood lends itself to be a certain sculpture. Working with wood in this way is a particularly enjoyable and rewarding aspect of my work.
